I'm Going to Be a Dad!

The news I've waited years to share, the strange and beautiful way it arrived, and why my calendar is about to change

I've been sitting with how to write this one for a while, because it's a post I'll probably only get to write once in my life.

Anastasia and I are expecting a baby.

She's three months along now, and we've just found out: we're having a boy.

Anastasia and I filmed a video together to share the news properly, in our own voices. Watch it here:

These last couple of years with Anastasia have been the most nourishing foundation I've known. The relationship felt right from the very beginning, and it has kept feeling right, through big events, long stretches of travel, and the ordinary work of building a life together. To be starting a family with her feels like the most natural next step, and also like something far bigger than either of us.

The land had other plans

We had actually decided when to start trying. My birthday, July 29. It felt like a good marker for a new beginning.

Conception happened about a month before that.

Here is the part I find fascinating. Around that time, after a full and demanding early summer of events, Anastasia and I took a low dose of psilocybin together on the land at New Eden, as a way to integrate everything we had held and to celebrate what we had completed. Nothing dramatic. A quiet ceremony, just the two of us.

During that ceremony my hands were intuitively drawn to rest on her womb, and the words that came through were womb activation. In the same moment Anastasia looked up at the sky and saw a baby.

When we had the first ultrasound, the sonographer dated conception to that same window.

I don't offer that as proof of anything. I offer it because it's what happened, and because it fits a pattern I've watched on this land for ten years.

Fertile soil

When I first moved into New Eden in 2016, the previous owners gave me a warning that sounded, at the time, like a charming bit of local folklore.

"Just be aware. This is fertile soil for making a family. People who haven't been able to get pregnant come onto this land, and they get pregnant."

I've seen it myself since then, more than once. Women who came to retreats here having been told that children weren't medically possible for them, who went on to have children. I can't explain it and I've stopped trying to. It's a fertile place, in every sense of the word, and now it has done the same for us.

So this being is coming into the world with New Eden in its story from the very first moment. That feels right.

It takes a village

In those early years at New Eden, we hosted family retreats. Parents and children living together on the land for a week at a time, sharing meals, sharing the care, sharing the mess. Those retreats planted a vision in me that never left: raising children in community, not in isolation. Moving away from the nuclear model where two exhausted adults carry everything, towards something older and wiser. It takes a village to raise a child.

Anastasia and I share this vision. It's one of the things that drew us together, and it's why we feel it matters to put it out into the world now rather than keep it to ourselves. We're following the breadcrumbs, one at a time, towards where we'd like to raise our child and who we'd like to raise them alongside.

I've wanted to be a father for many, many years. And I've always known, intuitively, that when fatherhood finally arrived my purpose would pivot, widen and expand with it. That my priorities would shift. I can feel that happening already.

Everything was preparation

Looking back, everything I've done in Heart iQ feels like preparation for this chapter.

Learning to facilitate conflict. Learning what rupture actually is, and how repair really works, not as a technique but as a way of staying in contact when it would be easier to leave. The practice of attunement. Listening deeply to what is being communicated without words, which is most of what a baby will be communicating for a long time. Learning to live with other people in heart coherence rather than just in proximity.

I'm excited for the chance to put all of this into action as a parent. I know the challenges will come, and I know that no amount of facilitation experience prepares you for a newborn at 3am. But I savour the opportunity to offer this new being an imprint, and I suspect I'll learn things along the way that I can pass on as part of my work as a spiritual teacher and facilitator of human to human connection. I'll be sharing that journey with you as it unfolds.

What this means for the year ahead

Given all of this, my event schedule next year will be lighter, and some of what's on offer will change. I don't yet know exactly how available I'll be to keep running the different retreats in their current form, and I'd rather be honest about that now than surprise anyone later.

So if you've been feeling the call to go deeper into Heart iQ, my invitation is simple: don't wait. Claim your seat while I know for certain I'll be in the room.

Here's what's left in 2026.
